- #15Who was Attlee? Why was Attlee's announcement welcomed by the Muslim League?Ans : Clement Attlee of Labour Party was the Prime Minister of Britain when India became independent. He was the person who announced that the British would quit India by June, 1948. It was accepted by the Muslim League because the Prime Minister had made it clear that power would not necessarily be handed over to a single government for the whole of India.
